About
I’ve been on-line now for around 16 years or so. When I was just 16, I set up my very own BBS - that’s a Bulletin Board System - which is what we had back then instead of web sites. It was called The Silver Dragon, and a total of one person could connect to it at any time
When someone connected, my phone rang and I had to quickly flick over the old modem to allow them to connect. I had an installaton of Trade Wars and some message boards and thats about it. I had a following of a massive 6 regular users!
That got me hooked on the web. I remember back in the Multiline BBS days when we thought 20 people connecting to a BBS at once was unbelievable! I remember when the WWW officially launched in Perth and we had to pay an extra 5 bucks a month to get access to it through Multiline. Good old Gloria Platt!
The web has changed a lot since those days, and I’ve been involved with it in a number of ways ever since.
I now run a web design company called Nutwork Web Design based in my hometown of Perth, WA. We aim to produce really high quality websites for Perth and Australian businesses. We specialise in creating “on-line communities” and utilise Web 2.0 to the fullest.
Nutwork created Loconut.com.au - Perth’s largest online social networking site - and havn’t stopped since.
I love music, websites, technology, games, polotics, 4WD’ing, camping, the ocean and loads of other things. This website blog is my internet space - my online journal and place to muse about life in general, and the things I like.
Gaming wise, I have been playing Eve Online now since late 2004. That’s the longest any game has ever held my love and affection for - by a long shot. The only game to come a close second was Neverwinter Nights (original) where I played and created several Perrsistant Worlds.
I run a corporation in Eve Online called “Aperture Science Industries” - yeh ripped right out of the Portal game
It’s a fun corp for friends and mates to hang out in, get rich together and play team based.
We also play a lot of other games here, and thus the RPGN.net Gaming Network was formed - a place for gamers to just hang out. A lot of us are old time gamers from way back, but dont let that scare you off we’re a friendly bunch.
I started collating music lyrics longer than I can remember ago on scraps of paper which I kept in a shoe-box. I had an old fashioned tape recorder and a notepad, and would listen to the song one line at a time, and scribble down my interpretation of the lyrics.
The internet and blogging has done away with the need of the shoe-box, and now I have started compiling my favourite lyrics much more accurately on this blog.Music, for me, is a way of life, a philosophy.
I hope you find some songs and on here that mean something to you aswell. You will see that my taste varies from german metal, thru to the cheesiest balads of the 80’s.
Anyway, welcome to my blog - I hope you enjoy it and find something of interest.
Adam Guerin.
